WHAT’S THE JOB? SENIOR KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER MANAGER - POTATOES

WHERE IS THE ROLE LOCATED? West  Midlands, UK

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE ROLE? To Contribute to and lead on Knowledge Transfer (KT) and Knowledge Exchange (KE) activity for the Potatoes sector. Take an overview of the direction of the organisation’s technical work in potatoes, both in research and knowledge exchange and the links between the two.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The role is required to provide expertise in production systems and plant health associated with domestic production and to be the Levy expert in these areas
  • The role leads on potato specific issues related to the development of domestic production
  • Represent and provide intelligence for Potatoes with UK based trade organisations 
  • Working with Industry Market Intelligence and other sources of information to develop and manage an information system regarding worldwide market data for relevant products, databases of exporters and importers, regular bulletins, sales leads and network of internet sites
  • Develop our client as the leading knowledge house for issues in the potatoes sector
  • Maintain relevant technical knowledge pertinent to the role
  • Advise potatoes growers and develop their commercial and marketing capability
  • Industry credibility and act as advocate, provide thought leadership for the potato sector

WHAT QUALITIES DO I NEED? 

  • Industry expertise in the Potato sector in particular but also with knowledge of the wider arable sector
  • Ideally, BASIS or FACTS qualified, or be able to demonstrate a similar level of knowledge and be willing to work towards this qualification
  • Experienced in the structured development of technical campaigns
  • A proven track record of developing and delivering knowledge transfer approaches
  • Results driven manager, with experience achieving stretching operational targets
  • Experienced at closely monitoring and managing project budget expenditure
  • Able to demonstrate a desire and willingness to actively develop own skills and knowledge, whilst managing a team
  • Confident to work with industry partners from across the arable sector
