WHAT’S THE JOB? FARM FOREMAN

WHAT’S THE JOB? Farm foreman for a dynamic fast growing outdoor poultry and livestock business.

WHO’S THE EMPLOYER? A well-established Rural Estate with a young management team building a fantastic farm to fork poultry business. The farm is a high calibre facility in a stunning area on the edge of the Chilterns in the Thames Valley.

WHAT’S THE INDUSTRY? General Farming and Estate Management producing Beef, Turkeys and other specialist livestock to supply their markets and butchers outlets.

HOW WILL I BE REWARDED? This full-time role will be well rewarded for busy seasonal work with plenty of overtime for seasonal and weekend responsibilities. Support with housing will be available by negotiation.

WHAT’S THE LOCATION? The main business is in the Thames Valley, Berkshire.

WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE ROLE? The role is leading a small farm-team with day-to-day care of a grazing beef herd and Guard Alpacas for the turkey production. You would oversee mechanical operations for farm crops and ground care, support for occasional Estate events. You would also be involved in main campaigns of hatching, brooding, and finishing birds for a specialist Christmas market.

  • As foreman you would report to the farm manager and help with work planning, ordering feed from suppliers and overseeing contractors and seasonal workers
  • You and your team would be responsible for all daily livestock welfare checks and compliance with Health and Safety policy. The foreman would also help keep the farm updated and compliant
  • This is a fast growing business and the right candidate should expect the opportunity to quickly rise up the farming ladder with the growth of the company

WHAT QUALITIES DO I NEED? 

Essential requirements:

  • Confident team leader able to work extended hours
  • Adaptability and willing to learn
  • Confident with farm machinery (Tractor & Trailer, Telehandler, Mower & Generator)
  • Full Clean Driving License

Technical skills (training provided to get up to speed)

  • Grassland and Arable crops experience
  • Livestock Husbandry
  • Food Hygiene and Health & Safety
  • Building maintenance & Ground works
  • Outdoor poultry rearing - Advantagous but training will be given
