Who We Are

RSPCA Assured is the leading farm assurance and certification scheme, ensuring that all animals raised under our label meet the RSPCA’s high welfare standards. As a Field Assessor, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our certification process and upholding our reputation in farm animal welfare.

Your Role

As a Field Assessor, you’ll act as the face of RSPCA Assured, conducting on-site assessments and monitoring visits across the UK. You’ll verify compliance with our welfare standards, provide outcome reports, and ensure that all certified members adhere to our high standards. This is a role for someone passionate about animal welfare and comfortable working independently while traveling extensively.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and carry out on-site assessments, ensuring biosecurity and compliance with ISO:17065 standards.
  • Conduct investigatory and monitoring visits, including unannounced checks.
  • Review non-compliance corrective actions and recommend certification outcomes.
  • Provide feedback and reports to members, ensuring clear communication of requirements and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Team to address membership compliance issues.
  • Support new assessors through training and calibration exercises.
  • Promote RSPCA Assured at trade shows, public events, and industry meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments and manage issued equipment, including a company car.

What You’ll Bring

  • Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Proven experience in commercial livestock production (minimum 2 years).
    • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in agriculture.
    • Effective planning skills for complex scheduling and logistics.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Commitment to animal welfare and the ability to assess compliance objectively.
    • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
    • Full UK driving licence.
  • Desirable Skills and Experience:

    • Formal qualification in agriculture or food technology.
    • Lead Auditor Status (IRCA).
    • Experience in farm assurance environments.
