WHATS THE ROLE: HERD MANAGER (DAIRY)
WHERE IS IT BASED: MIDDLE EAST
TELL ME MORE: Manage all aspects of Herd operations, including financial and physical performance, staff selection, organisation and development
MAIN RESPOSIBILITIES:
- Agree physical & financial performance of Herd in consultation with GM/Farms Director.
- Deliver agreed AOP performance.
- Structure and develop staff in all Herd areas.
- Implement Herd quality systems and procedures
- Recommend strategic development in Herd.
- Manage stocks and liaise with key suppliers in feed/forage and other farm materials.
- Ensure the implementation of good health practices and biosecurity.
HOW WILL MY PERFORMANCE BE MEASURED:
- Milk production
- Cost per litre
- Staff development and retention
- Succession planning
- Animal welfare / herd selection / breeding programs
- Good hygiene practices
- Maintenance of farm buildings, yards and other assets.
WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED:
- Administrative capacity & personnel management skills.
- Possess positive mental attitude, constructive and solution oriented.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Analytical problem solving skills.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years at managerial level in a similar agricultural setting
- Familiar with all aspects of farming operations.
- Experience managing large, multi-national work force.
- Ability to manage and achieve goals through delegation of responsibilities to subordinates.
- Experience in performance forecasting and budgeting.
- Skills in end user management of HR and Administrative services.
- Ability to understand and implement company policies and procedures.
