Role Overview: As the General Manager of Operations overseeing Strategic Planning, Agronomy, and Growing, you will play a pivotal role in driving and optimizing the operational aspects of our agricultural endeavours. Your leadership will be instrumental in devising strategic plans, implementing innovative agronomic practices, and overseeing growing operations to ensure maximum yield, sustainability, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive operational strategies aligned with the company's vision, ensuring long-term sustainability and growth.
- Agronomic Expertise: Lead agronomic initiatives by introducing innovative farming practices, optimizing crop selection, and ensuring efficient resource utilization to enhance yields and quality.
- Growing Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of crop cultivation, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting, ensuring adherence to best practices for optimal crop health and yield.
- Research and Development: Drive research initiatives to enhance crop varieties, improve cultivation techniques, and incorporate sustainable farming practices.
- Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Manage operational budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure cost-efficiency across all farming operations.
- Quality Control: Establish and maintain stringent quality control measures throughout the growing process, from planting to harvest, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including commercial, R&D, and logistics to ensure seamless integration of operations.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a senior operations role within the agricultural industry, with a strong background in agronomy, strategic planning, and managing growing operations.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership experience in managing multifaceted operations teams and driving operational excellence.
- Agronomic Expertise: Deep understanding of agronomy, crop management, irrigation techniques, and sustainable farming practices.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills in English and maybe Arabic, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
