Position Summary: This role reports to both the Veterinary and Crop Managers and primarily involves the management of apiaries and all related tasks in accordance with Company Policy. The incumbent will be responsible for adhering to Company and Farm policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
Essential Duties:
- Overseeing all beekeeping tasks, including planning and organizing honey production.
- Constructing and maintaining beehives.
- Regularly inspecting and maintaining active hives to prevent disease and parasite infestation, as instructed by Company policy.
- Coordinating with the Crop Manager to fulfil pollination requirements on the farm.
- Ensuring all apiary areas meet the company's high standards and protocols.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Providing samples for laboratory testing when required.
- Promoting genetic diversity within the hives and collaborating with other keepers to achieve this goal.
- Maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with Company Health & Safety Policy.
- Adhering strictly to biosecurity protocols outlined in Farm Procedures.
- Being available to assist with various farm activities and logistics as needed to support overall farm operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent qualification.
Key Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills, with a focus on accurate event and timing recording.
- Ability to work independently.
Work Environment:
This role requires working in both indoor and outdoor conditions throughout the year. The position involves physical work, including lifting, and the Company will provide appropriate protective equipment and clothing, as well as comprehensive safety guidelines and procedures.
