Job Title: Field Manager / Assistant Manager / Agronomist – Lettuce/Carrots
Location: Republic of Ireland – Wexford / Carlow

With a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and cutting-edge agronomic excellence, they are seeking a knowledgeable Field Agronomist to support their fresh veg production.
Role Overview: As a Field Agronomist, you will play a crucial role in optimizing crop performance, ensuring sustainable and profitable production. You will provide technical guidance on soil health, crop nutrition, pest and disease management, and overall agronomic best practices. Collaborating closely with growers, farm managers, and external stakeholders, you will help drive efficiencies and improve yield and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with a Consultant Agronomist, provide expert agronomic advice on crops in production, focusing on soil biology to maximize yield, quality, and sustainability (PPP).
- Monitoring crops and in-house trials to forecast crop harvest dates and yield estimates, soil health, pest pressures and disease risks.
- Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies to minimize crop loss.
- Monitor soil fertility and oversee nutrient management programs tailored to specific growing conditions.
- Advise on irrigation strategies to optimize water use efficiency and improve crop resilience.
- Work closely with field managers and growers to support decision-making on planting, rotation, and harvest timings.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies, research, and legislation affecting the fresh produce sector.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and food safety requirements.
- Maintain detailed records and provide regular reports on crop progress, challenges, and recommendations.
Key Skills & Experience:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Proven experience in field agronomy, ideally with expertise in fresh produce production.
- Strong knowledge of soil biology, crop nutrition, and plant health.
- Understanding of IPM principles and sustainable farming practices.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to engage with growers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Ability to analyse data, interpret field trials, and implement findings into practical solutions.
- A proactive and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel between growing sites.
